Emma Patchell
Principal Planner
Emma is a Charted Town Planner with over 20 years of experience in the public and private sectors. Emma has worked as both a Development Management case officer for Local Planning Authorities and more recently as a private planning consultant, which involved project managing and assisting on various development schemes, including care homes, major residential developments and commercial schemes.
Emma is passionate about well designed, sustainable buildings that create places for communities to thrive. She works collaboratively with all stakeholders including other development professionals, Parish/Town Council’s, Ward Councillors and other statutory consultees. Emma has excellent project management skills, a keen eye for detail and innovative problem solving skills which assist in working towards positive outcomes on planning applications.
Background
Emma started her career at Gosport Borough Council as an Assistant Planner in their policy team and shortly moved on to the Development Management team at New Forest District Council and then to The New Forest National Park as a Planning Officer. Emma progressed further as a Planning Officer when taking a role at Bournemouth Borough Council (now BCP) also within the Development Management team. She moved to a private planning consultancy role as a Senior Planner which progressed into an Associate Planner, where she lead on and assisted on various development schemes.
Recent experience
Assisted and planning lead on various care home schemes in sensitive locations including Green Belt sites where Very Special Circumstances were weighed in the balance of the scheme;
Project lead on the change in use of a Grade II Listed Building to a SEND school;
Project lead on a new commercial building in the countryside and AONB.
