Grand Designs Live 2021 - Update

Overview of the Day

Axiom Planning were honoured to be a part of the Grand Designs Live event, held at the Birmingham NEC at the beginning of October 2021.  Our Director, Daniel Gender-Sherry, was part of a panel of speakers discussing countryside homes allowed by NPPF paragraph 80.  The session, titled ‘Para 80- A risk worth taking?’ Was a great success and spurred many inquisitive questions from the audience.  Gaining insight from a venerable panel of industry experts, which included.

  • Richard Hawkes, of Hawkes Architecture

  • Jonathan Braddick, Chair of The Design Review Panel

  • Mike Davies, of Davies Landscape Architecture

  • Kevin McCloud of Grand Designs

Together, Daniel and the other panellists provided the audience with a considerable understanding of what paragraph 80 is all about.

To achieve planning permission through paragraph 80 is challenging. However, if approached in the right way, risks can be managed and mitigated when working with an experienced team., When approached methodically, the risks are certainly worth the reward.

We were fortunate to meet numerous interested people throughout the day and offer insight into the world of paragraph 80 and rural planning generally.
